Steps:

  1. Start by standing up straight with your toes slightly touching and your heels apart with your body weight should be evenly distributed.
  2. Your shoulder blades should be rolled down your back and your arms hanging down facing forward. Your chin should be tucked slightly and you can close your eyes.
  3. In this pose, you are standing with a straight spine, firmly rooted to the ground.
  4. As you continue to breathe, roll your shoulders down your back continuously.

Cat-Cow Pose

Cat-Cow pose is considered great for a beginner yoga pose that can help in improving spinal strength and flexibility. This simple pose is also beneficial in preventing back pain and injury.

Steps:

  1. Start on all fours like a tabletop position with your wrists below your shoulders and your knees below your hips slightly apart.
  2. Focus on your breathing, as you inhale, arch your back like a cow and as you exhale round your back like a cat.
  3. Continue this breathing in rhythm as you continue between poses. You should feel your spine moving and curving along the movement. Also, keep your neck as a long and natural extension of your spine along the movement.

Downward Facing Dog

  1. The Downward dog usually begins with a plank pose on the ground and then push your back to create an inverted V.
  2. Your hands and feet should be firmly planted on the ground and your shoulder blades rolled down your back and tailbone towards the ceiling.
  3. If your heels don’t reach the ground complete, then continue pressing down as your hips go up.

Bridge Pose

Bridge pose is a simple back bending pose that provides stretching to your back and legs and also strengthens the spine.

Steps:

  1. Lie flat on your back and bend your knees so that your feet are firmly placed on the ground.
  2. Your hips should be width apart. Your hands should graze your heels and as they lie on your side.
  3. Lift your back gently while pressing your feet firmly into the ground and press down your arms to lift your chest.
  4. Engage your legs and butt to lift your hips higher.

This pose helps build strength in your core and lower body. It also helps in strengthening your spine. It also stimulates and energises the nervous system.

Resting Pose

The Resting pose popularly known as the savasana is considered the final resting pose in the yoga workout.

Steps:

  1. Lie down flat on your back. Your body should be relaxed completely.
  2. With your eyes closed, your feet on either side and alms alongside the body  .
  3. Breathe calmly and naturally in its rhythm, allowing your body to rest.
  4. Lie for five minutes or as long as you are comfortable and then to come out of this pose deepen your breath.
  5. Start to move your fingers and toes slightly and then bring your knees to your chest and roll to one side and get back up on to a seating position.

Resting pose is a great way to let your mind and body be completely relaxed. It helps in relieving stress and is known to reduce fatigue and headaches by relaxing your nervous system.
