This Marathi lesbian wedding in Virginia has left us feeling all mushy inside. Mekhala and Tatum’s first met during their undergraduate days in Virginia, where they both were pursuing their creative writing major. And that’s all they had in common since Mekhala was Indian and Tatum hailed from Texas. It was their love for writing that brought them together. But they realized their feelings for each other only when Mekhala moved to Canada after her graduation, while Tatum still had a year to complete hers. And that began their long-distance love saga. They would often visit each other for a few days and return. Their love went through it all- long-distance, completing their studies, looking for jobs in the same country, cancer, and family acceptance. And one day Tatum popped the question to which Mekhala could only say yes.
The couple chose their wedding weekend that also happened to be their tenth anniversary together. They decided to get married at the place where they met for the first time- Virginia. The Marathi wedding ceremony took place during the first half of the day. Both brides wore Indian outfits for the wedding ceremony. Mekhala donned a traditional Maharashtrian saree and Tatum was seen glowing in a yellow lehenga. They celebrated the ceremony in a typical Indian fashion with mehendi, jewelry, and a panditain.
