2018 will always be remembered as the year of celebrity weddings. All the lovebirds of both the big screen and the small screen tied the knot and gave us major wedding goals. From Sonam Kapoor’s wedding in Mumbai to Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding at Lake Como to Priyanka and Nick’s royal wedding in Udaipur to Kapil Sharma and Ginni’s star-studded reception; we are completely blown by all these amazing celebrity weddings. 1. Long Bridal Train
Christian brides love their veils and long trains but this trend is taking over traditional bridal wear too. Priyanka Chopra carried a 75-feet long train on her wedding day and Deepika Padukone’s Ivory reception dress, designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, also had a gorgeous long train. This is one trend that will become the ‘it’ thing in 2019 wedding.

2. Red Bridal Lehenga
Last year, brides like Anushka Sharma set the trend of light coloured bridal lehengas. This year, Bollywood beauties like Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone and TV celebs like Parul Chauhan, Shakti Arora and Pankhuri Awasthy established that an Indian bride looks absolutely gorgeous in red.
3. Simple Phoolon Ki Chadar
Till the end of 2017, we saw many brides walking under exotic and extravagant phoolon ki chadar. This year, we saw our Bollywood brides sticking to simplicity and elegance. We loved their simple phoolon ki chadars.
4. Sneakers Are The New Heels
For centuries we have stressed that women look gorgeous in heels. As much as we like those sensual heels, no one can deny that they can be pretty uncomfortable after a while. By wearing sneakers for the occasion, Deepika Padukone and Rhea Kapoor at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding proved that comfort should always come first. Even, Anand Ahuja wore sneakers for the reception!
5. Personalised Wedding Wear
Personalising your wedding attire is a thoughtful thing to do. What started with, getting the couple’s love story and initials etched onto the wedding attire took an even more beautiful turn as the year progressed. In the first half of the year we saw all the celebrities playing around with their couple names but in the last leg of it we saw something even more meaningful happening. Brides like Priyanka and Deepika got some special blessings and names woven into their bridal wear. Priyanka got her parents and Nick Jonas name carved on her Christian bridal gown whereas, Deepika’s wedding dupatta had ‘Saubhagyavati Bhawan’ embroidered on it.
6. Colour Coordinated Bride and Groom
This year we saw many couples who colour co-ordinated their wedding attires. Whether for the wedding or for the pre or post wedding events, they stepped out in the same colours. Celebrity couples like Rubina Dilaik and Abhinav Shukla, Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap wore the same colours for their special occasion and looked ravishing.
7. Big on Jewellery
This year, we observed that all the television and Bollywood actresses kept their hair and makeup simple but went big on jewellery. We have seen some of the most stunning bridal jewellery pieces this year. They kept their hair, makeup and even the lehenga at the minimal but splurged on the jewellery.
8. Special Jewellery For The Grooms
The celebrity grooms of 2018 gave us some major jewellery goals. They wore some exquisite pieces that we won’t be able to forget. Ranveer Singh, Chirag Thakkar, Prince Narula, Sumeet Vyas and Abhinav Shukla; all proved that grooms should wear jewellery more.
9. Adhering To The Traditions
As we mentioned earlier, 2017 was all about re-inventing all the customs and traditions according to the personality of the couple. The idea this year was to return to the roots and give the traditions their due respect. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja and Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi had a simple Anand Karaj. Deepika and Ranveer and Priyanka and Nick had two weddings to give equal respect to their respective cultures.
10. Subtle Bridal Makeup & Hairstyle
Every bride this year kept her hair and makeup simple. There wasn’t any dramatic hair accessory for highlights. They all had dewy makeup with subtle smokey eyes and middle-parted hair. We loved the simplicity of their looks.

The trend started with Sonam Kapoor’s reception and continued till Priyanka’s reception. They all went a little extra yet stylish to break all the stereotypes at their reception. We loved how Deepika wore that stunning thigh slit dress with a veil at her finale reception.

12. The Special Wedding Cakes
We saw some beautiful cakes this year. Starting with Sonam Kapoor’s two tier cake had a dragging groom out of the basketball court. And, Priyanka’s 6 tier, 18 feet tall cake had palace made on it.
Through our television screens or the social media accounts of the celebrities, we became a part of some of the biggest celebrity weddings over the century.
