The annual FDCI India Couture Week 2022 took place in New Delhi from July 22 to 31, 2022. This 10-day long fashion event witnessed some incredible line of designers showcasing their stunning couture. From bridal wear to a series of fashion-forward Avant Garde, the India Couture Week 2022 had it all!

Day 1 Of FDCI India Couture Week 2022
Designer Tarun Tahiliani opened the FDCI India Couture Week 2022 with his collection titled ‘The Painterly Dream’. The collection saw playful multicoloured lehengas, long jackets over lehengas and traditional magic of drapes in red sindoori sarees. The collection had seamless magic of the finest embroidery techniques such as the jarkana, pichwai, kashida that were a strong craft pillars for this collection.

Designer Rahul Mishra showcased his collection ‘Tree of Life’ at the day 2 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. This collection was an ode to the artistic memory showcased in parts across Haute Couture Week in Paris and at India Couture Week in New Delhi. It was a dedication to the show’s deep emotion and nostalgia. The collection had 2D and 3D embroideries that articulated the first flush of nature emerging on the surface of a body, and life that grows from it. It was a refreshing touch with metallic which added glam to the couture.
Designer JJ Valaya marked and celebrated the 30 years of the label at the day 3 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. The designer presented his collection titled ‘Alma’ which was inspired by Spain. The collection showcased luxurious fabrics, elegant details, inspired prints and the designer’s timeless and much-loved embroideries.

The day 4 of the FDCI India Couture Week 2022 saw a stunning collection by designer Varun Bahl. The designer dropped his collection ‘New Leaf’ and actress Rashmika Mandanna turned his showstopper muse for the show. The collection revived the brought back the designer’s evergreen designs and hand embroideries in a refreshed avatar. Inspired by the bounty of nature found in the wilderness of forests, the designer added a hint of drama and fun by using upcycled vintage embroidery and appliques.
Day 5 Of FDCI India Couture Week 2022 Witness Two Collections!
Designer Anju Modi presented her collection titled ‘The Road Less Travelled’. Actress Aditi Rao Hydari walked the ramp as a showstopper and slayed in a stunning avatar. The collection includes one’s learnings and experiences through various walks around the world. It is based on a conversation the designer had with her soul, while taking a stroll through beautiful valleys and the mightiest of mountains. The collection speaks of how taking the longest routes and crossing glimmering rivers, can lead to a wave of change in our very being.

Rohit Gandhi And Rahul Khanna
The designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna presented their latest collection of evening wear couture titled ‘Fibonacci’. Actress Malaika Arora walked the damp as their showstopper and was no less than a diva in her truest form! The collection saw dramatic fabrics meet precise technique in patterns defined by Fibonacci’s irrational numbers to birth perfectly crafted garments of exquisite grace. Every pattern in this collection is uniform, built by clear lines and divisions. The collection presents a world that is perfect, returned from the brink of chaos
Designer Dolly J presented her collection titled ‘Meraki’ on the Day 6 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. The collection is inspired by the depth of tranquillity within art, a tranquillity which is foundational for growth and progress. Actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra walked as the designer’s muse and looked nothing less than a gorgeous! This collection also reflects on the improvised harmonies of jazz, the vibrations of which have a calming effect on the listener, complexities which inspire rumination. With golden hues, fluid textures and dramatic cascades spangled with motifs of change, ‘Meraki’ is a tribute to the period of introspection which lies at the heart of creation.
Designer Suneet Varma showcased his collection ‘Sitara’ at the FDCI India Couture Week 2022. It was a modern and theatrical representation of the modern India woman who lives in the today – yet embraces the romance of traditional India couture. This is a vague representation of a sixth sense of seduction. The collection saw a mix of traditional motifs and abstract artworks enhanced by age-old crafts of India.
Day 7 Of FDCI India Couture Week 2022
Designer Siddartha Tytler presented his collection titled ‘Shan Shui’ at the day 7 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. Singer Guru Randhawa opened the show while actor Farhan Akhtar walked as the showstopper for the designer. The collection is named after a Chinese term for the art genre “landscape” is Shan Shui. It is also both vertical and horizontal landscape paintings are abstracted from the juxtaposition of steep hills, water bodies, wild flora and alluvial plains that is characteristic of Chinese topography. The collection pays homage to the beautiful concept of Shan Shui which literally denotes the water and mountains and the motif, colour palette and the softness of the collection speaks for it.
Falguni Shane Peacock
Couturiers Falguni Shane Peacock presented their collection titled ‘Love Forever’. The collection is an inspiration taken from the rich heritage of the French capital vis-à-vis the stellar works of art and architecture by some of the great masters of modernism. It also celebrates the land home to innumerable artworks and some of the most celebrated masters in the history of modern art and design – Chagall, Picasso, Braque, Le Corbusier and the likes. Actress Sara Ali Khan walked the ramp as the designer duos muse and looked stunning! The collection is enamored with an ingenious display of detailed motifs that showcase the best of Indo-Parisian culture and architecture.

Designer Kunal Rawal presented his collection ‘Dear Men’ at the day 8 of FDCI India Couture Week 2022. The designer’s dear friend and actor looked dapper as he walked the ramp as the showstopper of the show. The ‘Dear Men’ collection features a lot of new, playful silhouettes and many fun and unexpected embroideries. The designer has added a lot of functionality and usability to each ensemble as well, taking into account the fact that every man has different needs, depending on who they are, how they live and how they move. This collection is our way of celebrating the evolution of men’s couture in India.
Amit Aggarwal presented his collection titled ‘Pedesis’ at FDCI India Couture Week 2022. The designer’s collection is a kaleidoscope ode to the fact that we are at an interesting bend in time where the digital space accommodates those whimsical aspects to ourselves not accessible in the physical world. Every silhouette displayed is the echo we carry of the first human and hold the inception of the future – overlaid on the fine-grained realities of the present. It is a celebration of the fact that we are the glitch in time: warping forms, straddling realms, embracing eternity.
Day 9 Of FDCI Indian Couture Week 2022
Designer Anamika Khanna closed the FDCI India Couture Week 2022 with her collection ‘The Couture Collection: An Experiment’. The grand finale collection was inspired by the ‘goddesses’ paired with deconstruction and pattern making techniques. There is also referencing to the ever-exuberant tribal India, approached with an eye of modernism. It is an awareness of the spectacular Indian silhouettes, textiles and sentiments and that we move to amalgamate something old, something new. Actor Rajkumar Rao walked the ramp and showcased the designs beautifully.
