At a time when same-sex marriages are illegal in India, a Telangana gay couple tied the knot and celebrated their love. Supriyo and Abhay hail from different backgrounds, Bengali and Punjabi, respectively. But their love for each other brought them together when they first matched on an online dating app. Soon after their first meeting, they moved in together and had a live-in relationship to understand each other better.
Both their parents accepted their sexuality but like any other Indian parents, they too had to be convinced for the wedding to take place. Supriyo shared that his mother has been his pillar of support throughout. And after 8 long years, they finally tied the knot in an intimate setting with close family and friends.

Mehendi Ceremony
Supriyo and Abhay wanted to break the stereotype of mehendi being a women-centric ritual. All the men at the venue got mehendi designed on their hands. And the couple had each other’s names designed on their palms.

Haldi Function
For the haldi function, the couple wore a Bengali topor i.e. traditional headgear worn at weddings. Both Supriyo and Abhay looked dashing in their sherwanis. And it was just too beautiful a celebration to witness.

Telangana Gay Couple Wedding
Abhay and Supriyo had close to 60 friends and family members who attended their intimate celebration of love. The couple walked down the aisle wearing matching tuxedos and exchanged their rings.
