We bet Mani Jassal wedding pictures will give tons of ideas and inspirations. After all, when a fashion designer decides to get married, it is supposed to be setting some major bridal goals. Such is the story of Canadian designer Mani Jassal who became a social media sensation for her incredible engagement look, for which she designed her own outfit. Well, taking forward her wedding planning, the designer recently had an intimate mehendi and maiyan ceremony (Haldi function) which is full of love and oh boy we literally are in tears.

Mani Jassal wedding festivities kick started with a colorful mehendi ceremony and it was every bit beautiful. For her mehendi look, Mani Jassal recreated her favorite childhood lehenga which was stitched by her masi back in 1995 in India.
Mani Jassal shares, “My mehendi look was inspired by one of favourite childhood lenghas that my masi (mom’s sister) made me in 1995. I knew I wanted to recreate the same look for my mehndi last year in 2019. I wasn’t able to source the same striped colours, so I had to create the fabric myself by cutting 3” strips of hot pink, navy and gold in raw silk . I managed to source mirrors which were very similar to what I found in the markets of Mumbai. The original look that was created in 1995 for me had custom cut mirrors on the top. For my lehenga skirt, I wanted to make it look more dramatic with about 20 m of “ghera” with “ghungroo” detail at the bottom because I’m obsessed with the sound of “jhanjjars”. I made the top much shorter than my childhood top and made a tie up back for something a little bit more “mature”. I kept the sleeves of my blouse short so that I could have my mehndi exposed and be comfortable. This look is very special since a lot of my overseas family couldn’t be here with me due to the pandemic but I am happy to say they were represented in my looks.”

Her flirty voluminous ponytail, OTT earrings teamed up with a traditional bindi added that much needed drama to her mehendi look. Whereas her beau Harkomal Bahia looked all dapper in a classic black pathani suit.
Mani Jassal’s Maiyan Ceremony
For her haldi ceremony, Mani Jassal was all drenched in shades of yellow from top to bottom. The bride shares, “I knew I wanted to wear a sari for one of my pre wedding looks . I found this beautiful pure silk sari with a hand woven banarasi border in India and fell in love with it instantly. It was like a blank yellow canvas for me to style with many accessories. I went with a long necklace from Minerali Store, a head piece and earring cuffs from Raabta by Rahul and yellow matte bangles from Free Rani . I love mixing and matching my jewelry pieces . This look sort of happened by fluke and I felt like Aishwarya Rai from Jodha Akbar. Now that I look at all my wedding looks, I really was living out my Bollywood dreams at my wedding.”
Mani Jassal saree was simple yet elegant one. Her bridesmaids further color coordinated with the bride for the haldi ceremony by wearing different shades of yellow from the designer’s collection and we are totally swooning over their gorgeous pictures.
Well, now that we have seen her really thoughtful and simple pre-wedding looks, we can’t wait to see her wedding pictures. Stay tuned for more as we share more pictures from Mani Jassal wedding with you all.
