Deepika Padukone And Ranveer Singh Relationship Dynamics – Celebrity Marriages & Its Questionable Loyalty
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh appeared as guests on the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 8, where they spoke about their evolving relationship, and making their marriage work in an industry where they are constantly surrounded by temptations. Deepika said that “nobody should be under the impression that their marriage is glorious, and that like everybody else, they have their bad days.”
Karan stated that in the film industry, celebrities like Deepika and Ranveer are constantly surrounded by ‘attractive people’, and asked how difficult it is to maintain ‘fidelity’, both emotionally and sexually. Deepika said, “Of course it is work. I think any marriage is work, whether you’re a part of this industry or outside it. Marriage is work, and it is work every day.”
She continued, “At the end of the day, he’s had a different life, a different upbringing, and I’ve had a different life and upbringing, and it’s about two very different people coming together. It’s not to say that we don’t have our fights, we don’t have our arguments, we don’t have our bad days. We do. But the fact that we choose to power through it together, the fact that we choose to argue with each other, the fact that we communicate, and choose to learn from that, and grow from that, and then move on, is what makes marriage beautiful.”
Did Deepika Keep Ranveer On A Stand-By Or Was It An Open Relationship?
Moving into depth about their relationship, Deepika and Ranveer spoke about how they met and what things unfolded. Deepika Padukone revealed about the early days of their relationship, when they were “technically allowed” to date other people, they “would just keep coming back to each other.” She said, “I did meet other people, but I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. So, I would meet other people but in the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him.”
This statement made the netizens question if this was indeed an open relationship or was Ranveer kept on a standby while Deepika explored other “suitors.” Ranveer recalled that Deepika had “two or three other suitors within the first six months,” and “a lot of guys were courting her.” Moreover, Ranveer concluded the topic by saying that he knew he was “the one” for Deepika, and was confident that she was “the one” for him in the first six months.
When Karan asked if they discussed that they were in a relationship at this point, Deepika said “no” but Ranveer said that it was “established” that they were together. “We would go out on dates. It’s not really said, but once you take a holiday together or you spend New Year’s together, then it gets established that you are together,” he shared.
Ranveer spoke about their first meeting with each other during the making of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, when he was awestruck by Deepika and the two shared a ‘moment of spark’ for the first time.
When Karan asked when they started dating after first meeting each other, Ranveer said, “The next day,” and Deepika added, “There was no gap.” Deepika shared that she was single at the time and Ranveer had just come out of a relationship. She said that she did not want to be attached to anyone at the time as she had been through a few difficult relationships. Even after she met Ranveer and they started dating each other, “there was no real commitment as such” until they got engaged, she revealed.
