“All this is still unbelievable to me,” says 2021’s newly-crowned Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu on winning the title. The last time an Indian won this title was back in 2000 when Lara Dutta was crowned Miss Universe. And it’s been 21 long years since then that India won the winning title in the most coveted beauty pageant in the world. Harnaaz Sandhu, who hails from Punjab, has worked as a model/actor and is also pursuing her Masters in Public Administration. She beat Paraguay’s Nadia Ferreria and South Africa’s Lalela Mswane to win the title at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 held in Eilat, Israel.
