Two posters of the much-awaited magnum opus of the ace Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmavati, were released earlier this morning, and we are not able to keep calm since then. The first look of the titular character was revealed through these posters, which has brought out a breathtakingly beautiful avatar of Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati.

Clad in authentic traditional outfits and heavy vintage jewellery, Deepika is totally slaying it as Padmavati. The dazzling diva is also seen sporting a unibrow with much panache, and is flaunting the queen-like attitude in true sense.
Her rich outfits will take you straight to the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan that have been created by Delhi-based designer duo Rimple and Harpreet Narula. The vibrant hues teamed up with rich zardozi work are sure to leave you mesmerised.

Talking exclusively to ShaadiWish about how they aligned their research process with Bhansali’s vision, the designer duo said:

“Working with Mr. Bhansali is a fabulously inspirational experience for us as designers. He is a master of his craft, a perfectionist with a great eye for detail as we all know. The process of creating the costumes for the project has been of constant evolution, a new learning experience every day. It is interesting for us as designers how our perception of drama in clothes has also undergone a change while working on the project; how at times “less is more” given the moment in the storyline or “more is less”, how various elements need to be layered for a cohesive look that is in sync with the director’s vision.”

While the shades of the outfits in these posters are quite vibrant, Rimple and Harpreet threw some light on palette that they have followed for rest of the movie. Here is what they said:

“The colour palette consists of rich, warm and earthy hues that have been used in a way to bring out what the main characters are going through – both physically and emotionally at that given point in the story line. We have used more pristine and ethereal hues during Padmavati’s Sinhalese phase which gradually change into a vibrant palette depicting shades of Rajputana.”

Well, after looking at Deepika Padukone’s spectacular look as Padmavati, there is no denying the fact that the ace designer duo, Rimple and Harpreet Narula have done full justice in bringing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision to life! Truly, they have aptly succeeded in attaining authenticity as close to the 13th century period as possible.
